Migraine is a neurological condition that can cause recurring attacks of head pain and other symptoms. It is more than a regular headache.
Common symptoms
Migraine can cause throbbing or pulsing pain, nausea, vomiting, light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, dizziness, or difficulty concentrating. Some people have aura, such as visual changes, before or during an attack.
Common triggers
Triggers vary. They may include sleep changes, stress, skipped meals, dehydration, hormones, certain foods, alcohol, weather changes, bright light, or strong smells.
A sudden worst headache, neurological weakness, confusion, fever, head injury, or new headache pattern should be evaluated urgently.
