PvP stands for player versus player. It describes any game mode where human players compete directly against other human players instead of only fighting computer-controlled enemies.

What counts as PvP

A duel, ranked match, team shooter, fighting game, battle royale, racing lobby, or competitive card match can all be PvP. The exact format changes, but the opponent is another person.

Why PvP feels different

Human opponents adapt, bluff, learn patterns, and make unexpected decisions. That makes PvP exciting, but it can also make balance, matchmaking, and lag more important.

PvP is the opposite of PvE, where the main challenge comes from the game itself.
