A multiplayer online battle arena, or MOBA, is a competitive team game built around heroes, lanes, towers, objectives, and a main enemy base. Each player usually controls one character with special abilities.
How a MOBA match works
Teams start on opposite sides of a map and try to gain advantages by defeating enemies, clearing waves, earning gold or experience, and controlling important areas. The match normally ends when one team destroys the other team's core structure.
Why MOBAs are strategic
A MOBA is not only about quick reactions. Players must understand roles, timing, map control, team fights, item choices, and when to push or retreat.
MOBAs are closely linked with esports because their matches are readable, team-based, and highly competitive.
