What does UNICEF Stand for?
The word UNICEF is an acronym that stands for “United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund.”
For the first time, this fund was created on December 11, 1946, to assist European children who were suffering from the issues of Food, Education or Health Care, after World War II. After seven years, in 1953, this organization got popularized throughout the world and became a permanent element of the UN System. This organization developed to provide humanitarian support to mothers and children of the developing countries. UNICEF financing is totally based on donations of companies, foundations, and governments.
On the 70th anniversary of its founding, UNICEF revealed its motto as “For every child” with “Marcel” a Sydney-based creative agency.
