What is WiFi, What does is stand for?

What is WiFi or Wi-Fi

WiFi is a technology that let computers, smartphones, tablets and other compatible devices connect to the Wireless LAN. A Wireless LAN, also known as WLAN is usually protected by Password, but it can also be left open to let others use without entering any Password. WLAN mainly uses 2.4 GHz or 5.0 GHz radio bands that provide connectivity wirelessly. Almost all the devices are 2.4 GHz ready, but some don’t support 5.0 GHz. In such case, your device will not show those Wireless LANs.

You can connect to a WLAN within a certain distance. The farther you go, the lower coverage you get, and it disappears eventually. WiFi also allows one computer to connect to another with the help of some software.

What does Wi-Fi stand for?

If you think WiFi stands for Wireless Fidelity, then you are wrong. WiFi doesn’t stand for anything, it’s a synonymous word for WLAN.
